Red Striped Shorts

I should be strolling on the boardwalk at St Kilda, Melbourne.

But instead I'm camwhoring in my new red and white striped shorts in front of any reflective surface I can find in Sunway Pyramid.

I'm recently in a parisian state of mind. And although that's typically black and white horizontal stripes, this red colour version is much more eye-catching. Sometimes the rule that horizontal stripes make one look wider just doesn't apply for some reason. In this case, its because of the pockets and the joining seam at the back interrupting the monotonous lines.

I finally found an outfit that goes with the bow necklace I bought from Tokyo. For the first time, the bow sees the outside of my closet in Malaysia!

Did I mention it has pockets? I must have pockets, even though I am already touting a sufficiently sized bag. A girl always need more places to put her things.

Recently purchased the shorts from VOIR, Jusco Klang. It was on 50% off the original price of RM63.90.

Local clothes brands - VOIR, Padini, British India, and so forth - have gotten more expensive over the years. A knitted top from SEED used to be RM50, and now it's more than a hundred! With the host of boutiques now importing their stock from China and Korea and offering them at a cheaper price, I wonder whether these local brands are still surviving.

Nonetheless, whether cheap or more expensive, I still stick by the vital formula I devised for purchasing clothes :

Adelene and I agrees that this ZARA sale is much better than the last one (I actually didn't buy anything the last time, a miracle!).

This time around, I made four trips to the dressing room, and had a difficult time shortlisting to only two pieces (a lot of willpower involved).

I ended up with this very lady like cotton dress, prefect for an afternoon tea:

And a once-piece which I tend to favour now as my laziness continues to grow:

The back itself is very feminine and sexy, although I hope that it was the granny panties I had on that contributed to the 'full moon' effect:

Will Kiehl's Be the Answer to my Desperation?

I've been cursed with oily, pimply, blemish prone skin most of my life. It's been a constant battle since I was 11 (yes, puberty came early).

I've spent enough for facials and expensive products. My face has been scrubbed, steamed, pricked, pressed, marinated and subjected to a whole lot of treatment that is supposedly good for it.

I've been to a dermatologist and taken prescription medicine that disrupts the oil glands' natural process.

But none had ever been a permanent solution. I become immune to products after awhile, and my skin reverts to its original problematic situation after a short blissful blemish-free period. I think I have been too harsh on my skin. It is rebelling. It is demanding for cessation. It is breaking out into a revolution (hence the massive breakouts and blocked pores recently).

I listened. I did not renew my facial packages. No more poking and pricking and pressing.

I bought a bottle of Cetaphil, a gentle cleanser, from the pharmacy. It's been a few weeks now, and although it did not help to clear the oil seeds and pimples, my skin feels less dry underneath and plumper.

I looked up forums and found that Kiehl's have generally good reviews. So today I bought a bottle of Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser (250ml) and Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion (250ml) for RM85 and RM80 respectively. Not as cheap as over-the-counter products, nor as expensive as the products I used to buy from the beauty centre. Plus, they allow you to swap with other products if you don't like the results within 3 weeks.

So with my skin back to square one, here will be my new gentler regime albeit still complicated:

Morning: Cleanse with gentle cleanser Cetaphil, gentle toner (currently I'm using a sample bottle of natural Neroli water until it finishes), Biossentials Light Moisturiser

Before Exercise: wipe with Kiehl's Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion

After Exercise: Cleanse with Cetaphil, gentle toner, moisturiser (for after only)

Night: Cleanse with Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser, Kiehl's Blue Astringent Herbal Lotion, moisturiser

To remove makeup: Double cleanse! (I learnt this from my ex-manager). Cleanse with Biossentals' Cleanser first because it is a cream cleanser that can remove makeup, then followed by Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser.

Twice a week: Incorporate a scrub into the cleanser. I'm using Biossential's Face Polish, cause its natural substance like pine which they grind down.

Weekly: After a scrub, Comfort Zone Clay Mask and Comfort Zone Hydramemory Mask

Even if it works, after about 6 weeks, I'm going to have to think up a new regime and switch around some products to trick my skin before it gets immune.

Hai... it's a sad fate that I couldn't be born with nice skin. But at least I can work on it. I think of Nie Nie who has her face burnt off yet is still a beautiful person, and I remember to not complain...too much.

I'm RM165 poorer today

But I got a quality, non-woven tote as well!

There were peacock feathered bracelets, necklaces and earrings at Diva! that retailed from RM39 onwards. Since I am *ahem* self-employed now, it would be ree-dee-cue-lous to spend that much money on accessories.

My acute radar senses told me to put them back, leave the shop and head to Forever 21 immediately.

And look what I found for RM15 only! Peacock feathers for when I'm feeling peacock-y.

Once a Crow's Nest, Now a Crowning Glory

I'm notorious for my unruly and frizzy hair. It's due to nature and i-can't-be-bothered-to-comb-my-hair.

But since I have more time to take care of myself lately, I've been paying more attention to my haircare regime and people have started to notice that my hair looks healthier.

So here's my routine to taming the wild tresses. Step 1-2-3 is standard, but my secret weapons are in Step 4-5

STEP 1) Try not to shampoo everyday as it'll strip the hair of its natural oils.
Not even alternate days. Try stretching it to every 3 days if you don't stink too much (otherwise, WASH IT DAMMIT. Having bad hair is not as bad as BO!).
What I do is if my scalp gets a bit oily in between washes, I'll just rinse it under the hot shower.

STEP 2) Apply shampoo to the scalp only
When you rinse away the suds, it'll give the rest of your locks a mild cleanse without drying it out.

STEP 3) Use conditioner
DUH

STEP 4) Apply non-sticky serum
I absolutely heart The Natural Source Hi Shine Mend&Shine. It DOESN'T leave your hair sticky, DOES leave a nice scent AND contains natural ingredients (my preference, naturally).

Retails at RM66. Pricey, but what matters is that it works!

Do NOT use baby oil! It makes your hair limp and leave your face and neck oily.

STEP 5) ABSOLUTELY VITAL SECRET WEAPON

It's the Biossentials Lavender Collection Conditioner (I love every single item in this collection, but..focus,eeling.focus).

Although it's meant to be used as a normal conditioner, I found that the light texture suited as a leave-in conditioner. This is the MUST HAVE natural-based product to tame frizziness and to lightly style natural curls.

Their products can be obtained at their HQ in Hartamas, certain spas or selected British India outlets. Call them if you are interested to find out where.

MJ and her peacock tattoo in a saree made for peacocking. No, I'm not wishing to get a tattoo. I want a saree in peacock colours.

I can imagine the feathers flitting to the sway of the hips.

Fishtail Skirt

It's one of those accidental shopping days, meaning I didn't mean to shop..it just happened.

I was at S.Parade to fix my watch (2nd time in 6 months! No more Titus watches for me!) and the word 'SALE' was shouting out at me from all around.

I stopped by Key Ng's shop as usual, as I'd usually find a suitable piece or two for work. I dug out this fishtale skirt from the bargain bin although it was only 50% off from RM119. Not exactly cheap.

Camwhored a bit in the dressing room, as I couldn't decide whether it made me look shapely or like an overstuffed dumpling.

Anyhoo, in the end I decided to believe I looked good in it and got it.

Vintage Earrings and Bags from Sunway Sunday Flea Market

During the last Sunway Sunday Flea Market, I took up a stall with Jacq to sell my pre-loved and her mum's vintage clothes.

Business wasn't too bad. The best part was seeing the customers fall in love with my pre-loved clothes and knowing that they have found a better home. But I spent more than I earned, buying accessories and bags...and mostly from my own stall!

Jacq had an amazing collection of vintage earrings and bags, which she was selling for a steal.

My ears itch if I wear hook earrings for more than a few hours, so the great thing is that vintage earrings at attached to your ear by clasps. These are the few I bought:-

I once saw this picture on Soul Doctor's blog and I liked the earrings made up from many tiny beads:

When I saw these similar ones, I thought "ahah!:

It was love at first sight for me when I saw these Rose clasps. I wanted it, but I knew I probably wouldn't wear it out. So I kept 'hard selling' them to the customers.

When they remained unsold by the end of the day, I knew that they and I were meant to be together!

The last purchase I made was AFTER everything was packed away. I finally gave in to myself and got this gorgeous croc skin purse for only RM20 and Jacq's helper had to dig it out of the plastic bags for me.
